Why this one

The short version
Metadata is useful and revealing in almost equal measure. For a photographer it is the record of what settings produced a shot, which is how you learn from your own archive. For everyone else it is mostly a privacy question that goes unnoticed, since nothing about looking at a photograph suggests it also carries the coordinates of where it was taken.

A block of information cameras write into image files: the device, the settings used, the timestamp and often the GPS position, all invisible when you look at the picture.
JPEG most commonly, along with TIFF and HEIC. PNG carries little by default and WebP can carry some. Screenshots typically have almost none.
It was probably stripped already, by a social platform on upload or by an editor on export. That is a good sign for privacy, and a frustrating one when you wanted the camera settings.
Not as evidence. Every field can be edited, so a timestamp or a location proves what a file claims rather than what actually happened.
